Raise-Ready Business Plan Audit
Your business plan. Reviewed against what investors actually look for.
You’ve written a business plan. Or something that you think looks like one.
The real question: will it survive contact with a sophisticated investor, an angel syndicate, an SEIS/EIS fund, an Innovate UK panel, a Scottish Enterprise assessor?
Most won’t. Not because founders lack ambition. Because most business plans are built without a clear picture of what experienced investors actually look for – the specific questions they ask, the red flags they scan for, the sections they turn to first.
The Raise-Ready Business Plan Audit closes that gap.
We’ll take your existing business plan – your blueprint, your foundation document, your roadmap for the raise, and assess it against the rigorous standards that UK early-stage investors apply. Section by section. With no diplomatic softening.
You get back a document that tells you exactly where you stand, exactly what’s missing, and exactly what to fix before you send it to anyone.
What you receive
A fully annotated version of your business plan, with comments and flags throughout, identifying exactly where each section meets investor standards and where it falls short.
A RAG-rated section scorecard: Red / Amber / Green across all 13 sections, so you can see at a glance where to focus your effort.
A prioritised action list, the top changes required, ranked by investor impact. The things that will most move the needle before your plan goes out.
A gap assessment narrative, a short advisory summary of the overall investment readiness of the plan: what’s working, what’s missing, and what the single biggest risk is if the plan goes out as-is.

How it works
Who it’s for
The Raise-Ready Business Plan Audit is right for you if:
- You have a business plan — in any state of completion — and you want to know whether it will hold up in front of real investors before you send it
- An investor, accelerator, or grant panel has asked for a business plan and you need to know if yours is ready
- You’ve had your pitch deck audited and want to make sure the underlying business plan tells the same story in more detail.
- You’re preparing for a Scottish Enterprise, Innovate UK, or Scottish EDGE application that requires a fundable business plan
It is not the right fit if you haven’t started your plan yet, check out our FREE Starter Kit below, or consider a Raise-Ready Fast Track day to build the foundations properly.
What we do
The Raise-Ready Business Plan Audit is a structured, expert gap analysis of your current business plan, using the same rigorous approach we apply in our Raise-Ready Deck Review, applied to the document that sits behind your pitch and goes in your data room.
It is not a rewrite. It is not a template exercise. It is a professional assessment of what you have built, measured against what investors expect to see, with prioritised, actionable guidance on how to close the gaps.
Think of it as a forensic audit that you’d get from a 30-year UK VC practitioner reading your plan with a critical eye and telling you everything investors never say politely in a meeting.
What we assess
Your plan is evaluated across 14 investor-critical sections:
- Executive Summary – Does it open with the opportunity, not the origin story? Can it stand alone as a one-page leave-behind?
- The Problem – Is the problem specific, quantified, and urgent? Or is it theoretical?
- The Solution – Clear, differentiated, and technically credible — or vague and feature-led?
- Market Opportunity – Is the market sizing bottom-up and defensible, or is it “1% of a £10bn market”?
- Business Model & Unit Economics – Is there a clear revenue model with stated pricing, CAC, LTV, and a path to viable unit economics?
- Go-to-Market Strategy – Channel-specific and executable with the team you have? Or generic and unsupported?
- Marketing & Communications Plan – Is there a credible brand positioning, a content and LinkedIn strategy, a realistic digital marketing plan, and a clear plan for how the first 100 target customers will hear about you? Or is it “we’ll use social media”
- Competitive Landscape – Are competitors named, assessed honestly, and used to sharpen your differentiation?
- Traction & Validation – Is the evidence presented in order of credibility? Is it framed around learning, not just metrics?
- Team – Does the team section establish credibility and acknowledge gaps honestly?
- Financial Projections – Are the assumptions stated? Does the runway make sense on the raise? Is the growth rate earned or assumed?
- Funding Ask & Use of Funds – Is the ask milestone-framed, SEIS/EIS-positioned, and broken down into specific line items?
- Risk Factors – Are material risks identified and mitigated…or omitted entirely?
- Exit Strategy – Is there a credible liquidity pathway with comparable UK transactions?
