Scotland’s entrepreneurial infrastructure has never been stronger. Over the last decade the ecosystem has moved from a handful of well-intentioned programmes to a genuinely diverse network of incubators, accelerators, and innovation hubs spanning every region – from the Highlands to the Borders, from Aberdeen’s energy transition zone to Glasgow’s industrial biotech corridor.
This guide covers programmes that take in early-stage companies and spinouts, provide structured support, and create the conditions for fundable, scalable ventures to emerge. Entries are in alphabetical order within each geographic area.

Barclays Eagle Labs – Edinburgh (Edinburgh)
Barclays’ entrepreneurial hub for tech and innovation-led startups and scaleups – growth programmes, expert access and collaborative community, with the Powering the Future climate tech programme delivered through the wider Eagle Labs network in Scotland alongside Sustainable Ventures.

Edinburgh Innovations – AI Accelerator & Venture Builder Incubator (Edinburgh (Bayes Centre, University of Edinburgh))
The University of Edinburgh’s dual-track commercialisation accelerator: the AI Accelerator supports early-stage AI and data-driven ventures; the Venture Builder Incubator is Scotland’s national university spinout programme, open to researchers across all ten Scottish universities, with alumni having raised over £58m since 2021.

Round One – Investment Readiness Programme (Scotland-wide (Edinburgh & Glasgow in-person))
A free, eight-week investment readiness programme for Scotland-based pre-seed tech founders with a live MVP who are preparing to raise their first round – delivered by Ecosystem Builders Network and Sun & Planet in partnership with the RBS Accelerator. The Scottish Government’s national tech startup programme, delivered by CodeBase – a 10-week Catalyst accelerator, Silicon Valley market missions, a Reforge partnership programme, a Funding Accelerator for raising £100k-£1m in equity, and a Scotland-wide hub network. The backbone of Scotland’s tech startup infrastructure.
Venture Builder Incubator – National University Programme (Scotland-wide (all ten Scottish universities))
A national five-month programme for researchers and university-affiliated founders across all Scottish universities – bridging the gap between research and investable venture with funding, office space, mentoring and investor introductions. VBI 7.0 applications open May 2026. Alumni have raised over £58m since 2021.
